This shows the formation of Bose-Einstein condensate. It is a state of matter where many atoms behave collectively as a single quantum wave. That shared quantum wave is being studied for ultra-sensitive sensors that can measure tiny forces, rotation at magnetic fields, and may one day help navigation where GPS cannot.
